The final AWL matchup we preview will take place between a pair of standout heavyweights, as Kyle Dake has opted to roll with veteran Dom Bradley, while David Taylor will be using Zach Rey after an injury prevented his draftee, Adam Coon from competing at the event.
This will be a battle between two of USA Wrestling veteran heavyweight wrestlers as Zach Rey has finished second on the U.S. ladder on multiple occasions, and Bradley has several National Team accolades to his credit as well.
Rey was USA alternate at 125 kg from 2014 to 2016 finishing behind Tervel Dlagnev each year during that stretch. In 2015 Rey got his opportunity to fill in for Dlagnev and he represented the U.S. at the World Championships placing 23rd. He has also represented the Team USA on three occasions at the Pan American championships where he won a gold medal in each appearance.
On the other side of the battle is Bradley, who won his first major Senior level International medal back in 2012, but prior to that he won the 2009 Junior World title for Team USA.
Of all the heavyweights not to make a Senior level team over the past decade, Bradley has to the most credentialed one of that group. He’s won the Dave Schultz Memorial numerous times, won bronze at the Yasar Dogu, Golden Grand Prix, and Alexander Medved at various points in his career.
This heavyweight bout should set up a storyline of two of USA Wrestling’s veterans squaring off a the U.S. Cellular Center.
